Fun Bath Time Products That Can Easily Lead To Clogged Drains

Rub-a-dub-dub, you're heading for the tub, and you just love all those modern-day products that will make the experience more enjoyable. If you walk through the bath supply aisle in your favorite store, you can find everything from bath beads and bombs to crystals and colorful kid soaps. Unfortunately, not all of this stuff gets dissolved as it should. Here are a few fun bath time products that can lead to clogged drains.

Bubble Bath with Heavy Moisturizing Agents

There's nothing quite as alluring as a hot soak in a tub filled with steamy water and your favorite moisturizing bubble bath. You step out of your bath smelling like a fresh peach blossom and your skin is silky smooth. However, you look at your tub after the water has drained and there is a greasy film all over it. This means you are using a bubble bath that has heavy moisturizing agents in it, and it could be hard on your drains. The heavy moisturizers often contain certain oils that do not dissolve or break down well even in hot water. These oils can gradually collect in your drain lines and cause problems.

Bath Crayons for Kids

These things are super cool, and they can sure make your life a lot easier as a parent with a squirmy toddler. Simply give them these "crayons" in a range of cool colors and allow them to draw all over the tub while you scrub. These crayons aren't really crayons at all; they're a heavy soap with color additives. They are probably going to be fine for use in moderation, but the heavy residue that can hang around that doesn't dissolve can crowd your drain lines.

Bath Salts and Scrubbing Crystals

Bath salts get a good sprinkling in a tub before you settle in for a soap, and they are meant to melt away as your cares float away also. Scrubbing crystals get incorporated into all kinds of soap products these days too, and they are meant to slough away dead skin while you bathe. As fun as these products can be to use, if they do not properly dissolve before heading down the drain, they could easily contribute to clogs. If you do use these solid bathing particles in your bath products, do a quick test on them by running some hot water over them in your hands. Make sure they are dissolving pretty rapidly before using them while you take a bath.
